BACKGROUND
I wear many hats, though I keep losing them. By training, I'm a scientist and engineer with a broad interdisciplinary background:
Physics (B.Sc), Electrical Engg. & Computer Science (B.S, M.S), Computational Neuroscience (Ph.D).
My academic research involved building mathematical and statistical models and using machine learning tools for understanding how brains learn to form memories, process information, and make decisions. I have worked on EEG studies of human speech and language, and on attention and decision-making. I have also worked on Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Game Theory to model and analyze real-world problems. My publications can be found here. I've been studying, researching, and writing on brains, behavior, and intelligence since 2011.
I've also been a committed practitioner of Buddhist meditation for over a decade, having trained in Zen and Vippassana, though I do not identify as a Buddhist. I'm deeply interested in reconciling and, when possible, combining eastern contemplative approaches with western scientific tools in the exploration of consciousness.
